Decemberists Announce Release Date for New Album
For those of you that thought the Decemberists' last effort, "The Hazards of Love" wasn't exactly up to par with what we've come to love about this charming quintet, their new album is set to drop on January 11th, 2011. Titled "The King is Dead," it is a seemingly return to form.
I know we all got prematurely excited by their Always the Bridesmaid single releases in 2008 only to be let down, although not by much but enough to matter, by Hazards.
Returning to the folk-rock roots that we know and love, "Down by the Water" is a harmonica filled, harmonizing tune that chugs along at a brisk pace peppered by lyrics and melodies evoking bittersweet sentiments. It's good. It's too good. Certainly not known or loved for their experimentation, we certainly love them for what they do best.
Here's the track listing:
1. Don't Carry It All
2. Calamity Song
3. Rise to Me
4. Rox in the Box
5. January Hymn
6. Down by the Water
7. All Arise!
8. June Hymn
9. This is Why We Fight
10. Dear Avery
